Our Staff

Our staff were recruited because they love children and Jesus, while also having great qualifications as teachers. Our current parents tell us how much they appreciate not only their expertise as educators, but their caring, Christian influence.

 

 

Volunteers Our students are so blessed by the many volunteers who enrich our program.  Every volunteer goes through a rigorous background check and training, and interacts with students only in a classroom environment with other teachers present. Several of our volunteers are part of the Foster Grandparent Program although it is not required.  Volunteers of all ages are welcome. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us to start the clearance process.

Because we know we are influencing the future citizens of our community, we are energized to nurture character development.  Our aim is to work with the Holy Spirit who is speaking to students' hearts while we guide their behavior and choices in line with Gal. 5:22,23, "...the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control."  

Character development at our school focuses on:

We recognize that parents are entrusting us with their precious children, and we take our responsibility seriously.

Physical safety

The structure of our campus and our safety procedures have been designed and adapted to maximize student and staff safety. This includes the use of security cameras and allowing  access only after visually confirming we know the person wanting to enter. We practice a variety of safety drills such as fire, earthquake, intruder and tsunami.

Emotional safety

Developing Christian character is one of our key priorities.  Our low teacher-student ratio allows our teachers to work individually with students on practicing kindness with each other. We focus not only on preventing bullying but also in helping students learn how to support and interact with each other constructively.

Individualized Learning

 

 

Whether a student is academically advanced or needing to catch up, our program will allow them to thrive. Two key features allow for this.

Our multigrade classroom

Students in multigrade classrooms can work at different grade levels for different subjects based on what they are ready to learn. In single grade classrooms students may feel behind or frustrated about not being able to move ahead since the whole classroom is expected to be working at the same level. But since subjects are being taught at a variety of grade levels already, students can learn at their level, without the frustration.

Our low student-teacher ratio

With two teachers in our classroom, as well as 2-4 screened volunteers, our students benefit from uncommon levels of individual teaching and support.

Multigrade Classroom

 

 

Multigrade classrooms have several other advantages for students.

• Older students have the opportunity to practice leadership skills.
• Younger students have older role models within their classroom.
• Research has shown that explaining something one has learned to another person reinforces that concept and improves remembering it later.
• Even if students are "ahead" in one subject and "behind" in another they are able to continue learning at their best level.

Holistic Growth

 

Growing spiritually

We exist to help students grow in their love for Jesus. While spiritual growth can’t be measured and quantified with numbers, we do see it happening every day. It starts with our commitment to making Christ the center of all we do––not just the subject of a single Bible class. And it continues through our focus on the Bible as the sole guide for our beliefs and behavior as Protestant Christians. We invite you to visit our campus and experience how our teachers model their love for God and nurture it in our students.

Growing academically

Our goal is to develop Christians with wisdom, not just knowledge. So we’ve structured our academic program to put God first and we find that, like Adventist schools of all sizes across the country, this results in students who grow academically at a higher rate than their peers in other schools (see the next paragraph). Growing physically

Making healthy choices is a way of honoring our bodies as the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). And plenty of research documents the importance of healthy bodies in developing healthy brains. So we include learning about taking care of our bodies with daily exercise, good sleep, healthy eating, and more. Growing socially

Loving and serving others is part of God’s plan for each of us and something we practice daily.  As we interact with each other here at school and as we practice service in our community, we are guided by Paul’s words, “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” (Ephesians 4:2) While we are not perfect, we are constantly aiming to be more Christ-like with each other and to serve our community.
